About Me

I can’t remember a time that I didn’t believe that God was real and that Christ was my savior. Praise God for boring testimonies!

I met my wife, Laura, on a summer missions trip with CRU. We got married in 1999 and spent the first few years of our marriage on staff with CRU at the University of Louisville, KY. We have four children.

I also earned an M. Div. at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary while being the worship leader for my friend’s new church plant. That’s where I first developed a passion for church planting.

When I graduated seminary in 2008, Laura and I moved to Cincinnati to start a new church in the heart of the city. Eighteen months later, we officially launched of Christ the King Church. Our mission is to help people know, love, and obey Jesus as Lord over all of life. By God’s grace, I hope to see many more biblically faithful and gospel-centered churches planted from CTK throughout Cincinnati. Our church planted Christ the King | Eastern Hills in 2014.

I am a student of scripture, theology, and culture. My desire is to help people apply the gospel to every part of their lives. I am also passionate about biblical anthropology and sexuality, which was the subject of my first book, “God’s Good Design: A Biblical, Theological, and Practical Guide to Human Sexuality” (2023, Reformation Zion Publishing).

I host two podcasts. The “Plain Speech Podcast” (Apple | Spotify | Youtube) features explainer videos and interviews with guests. The “Current Reality Podcast” (Apple | Spotify) features Wade Thomas and me discussing cultural and political issues from a biblical perspective. Wade and I also founded King’s Domain together, which is a church based ministry that aims to resource Christians with biblical insight, cultural discernment, and practical wisdom needed to follow Christ in the modern world. King’s Domain publishes regular articles, a weekly resource digest called “The Herald,” and an annual conference.

Besides these things, I have published writings for American Reformer, the Center for Baptist Leadership (as a contributing scholar), Clear Truth Media, The Federalist, Founders Ministry, King’s Domain, Sola Ecclesia, and Truth Script.

And beyond all that, I love playing piano and guitar, hiking outdoors, and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation whenever I can.
